About Barrie J. Atkin

Barrie AtkinThe company is headed by Barrie J. Atkin who brings over 25 years experience solving marketing and strategy challenges in large and small organizations - not-for-profits and for profits. Ms. Atkin has held senior executive positions in direct and consumer marketing, business planning and new business development. She worked at direct marketer and publisher Rodale Press from 1982 to 1988. As Director of Corporate Planning, she helped put into place a company-wide business planning process. During her tenure as Publisher of Newsletters, the company received several Gold awards from the Newsletter Association of America. She was also on the team that piloted Mens' Health Magazine, and later, as a consultant, helped write the roll-out business plan.

As Executive Director, Consumer Marketing at TV Guide Magazine, Barrie pioneered new methods to acquire and retain customers. She has also held senior positions at The Miami Herald and Behavioral Health Online.

Barrie first started marketing online in the late 1980s - and often combines traditional consumer and direct marketing with Internet and guerrilla marketing techniques.

Over her corporate and consulting careers, Barrie has personally written more than sixty business plans and has consulted to over 100 organizations, including many not-for-profits.

In working with not-for profits, Barrie brings an interdisciplinary approach to fundraising and development, marketing and strategic planning. Barrie offers a unique combination of strategic, analytic, tactical and creative skills.

Barrie holds a BA, cum laude, from Brown University, a MS Ed from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. She has received a Certificate of Professional Fundraising from Boston University.

At Harvard University, she was Publisher of the business school newspaper and was selected into the prestigious MPA intern program.

Prior to attending business school, Ms. Atkin worked in public health and education, where she developed an innovative curriculum that enhanced students' critical thinking skills.

Ms. Atkin is a frequent presenter at industry events.
